Hmmmm I have 6.3, perhaps I'll pop out and get myself 6.4. I am pinging the isp by the ip#, but the more I think about it, the more I think that my chat script may be the culprit. I havnt yet tried playing around with wvdial.dod, perhaps that is the answer. But I'm not yet ready to throw in the towel with chat just yet. I'll keep pluging away. Hi
For some time now I have been playing around with diald and I have run up against a couple of problems. I use ipchains and ipmasquerading on my Linux box to access the internet from my windows pc. So far so good.
diald will connect through the chat script to my isp without a problem, with the command ifconfig I can see that pppd is up and running, I can also ping the isp...HOWEVER I cant ping any other ip address nor can I access my email account.
Are you trying to ping by IP# or by name? If by name dns could be getting lost. If by IP# you have me stumped. I just finished setting up a machine with 6.4 using wvdial and wvdial.dod and it works right out of the box. 6.3 had been giving me all kinds of grief. "Men can never escape being governed.
