I had the same problem here. I solved it using the file sendmail.cw. The relevant lines in my linux.mc file are : dnl -------------------------------------------------------------------- dnl sendmail only accepts emails as local that use the FQDN. if you want dnl to accept further hostnames as local email, add them here or put dnl them into a sendmail.cw file. dnl define(`confCW_FILE', `/etc/mail/sendmail.cw')dnl FEATURE(use_cw_file)dnl dnl dnl_______________________________________________________________________ (this is the file which you must submit to m4 in order to obtain sendmail.cf. Read the README in /usr/share/sendmail). In /etc/mail/sendmail.cw I have the names of the machines of my local network, as follows: __________________________________________________________________________ localhost horus.mistral.org amon.mistral.org ascentia.mistral.org osiris.mistral.org hathor.mistral.org __________________________________________________________________________ These are the basics. There is more to write about the practical use of sendmail but apparently every one of us has his own hack to make it operate according to his needs...hope it helps ! 1. SENDMAIL: I've configured sendmail in the server (and the connection to the internet), but i'm not able to send mail in other computer. I've installed qpopper and fetchmail in the server and the clients use netscape in the client. I can read mail, but when I try to send any mail I receive following error:
