There is a gtk program called "ethereal" that is a good GUI front end to tcpdump. It'll drive tcpdump for you, and then you can examine things packet by packet. ericb b> On Wed, 05 Apr 2000, zentara wrote:
Hi, I just heard a report on NPR about the programmer who who Pharlap Software. He is trying to do security analysis of "browser add-ons". He mentioned a windows product called "Trace+32". It would give a print out of the raw packets going to and from the browser via modem. Thus showing what personal unencrypted information was going out.
Is it possible to do this with standard linux utilities like tcpdump? Is there better software to use?
How do you get tcpdump to monitor the modem instead of eth0?
