Stefan,

Thanks. I guess I should have been more clear. It would seem the
answere is 'No there is no common place for these files in SuSE 6.3.' I
typically use 'find'. Never heard of 'locate' till now. I can find
files by name, but what do I do when I find several files of the same
name in different places. One example is the file called 'C'. I often
find myself with rather confusing situation in which I have to really
dig to figure out where the "real" configuration file is. It would be
nice to see SuSE conform to a common industry standard if there is no
compelling reason not to. I certainly don't care to bash SuSE on their
own mailing list. I'm just suggesting what I think would be an
improvement.

As regards the $PATH thingie from the other mail thread. Yeah I found
that, but it took me a few minutes of digging. It can take a very long
time to find things such as this when they turn out to be located in
some obscure foo.sh somewhere. I don't like wasting time trying to fix
things, and any assistance that can be build into the OS would be
appreciated by, at least, me.

Steve
