I presonally would not waste time messing with it. recompile the kernel for what it should be. I am unsure under what conditions the modules were compiled. since you will have to recompile anyways save an extra step and just compile your kernel with the correct drivers. My friend, who asked me to install SuSE 6.3 for him, had ran into two troubles. He has a Win2k machine serving as a gateway for his little LAN, and although we had the right NIC modules and the right numbers for the network, it doesn't connect. The card is 3c509B, and must he disable PNP on the card inorder to get it working? The second thing is that he's so luck to have a dual 450MHz machine running a SMP kernel from the install (we will recompile later), and we tried to installl emu10k1 for the SBLive. Somehow the modprobe is trying to load the modules for the UP (uniprocessor) kernel, and it just fails to load the modules. Any pointers would be appreciated.
