Yes it does, later version kernels support this. you also need the apmd deamon running. gnome has a nice shutdown and suspend feature, but thats root only. The nice thing is it supports CPU idle and such, for those with overclocked celerons. Does Linux have any supporting software for power management? Or is this purely a BIOS function? My motherboard manual (Tyan) says under DPMS support:
Select this option if your monitor supports the Display Power Management Signalling (DPMS) standard of the Video Electronics Standards Association. Use the software supplied for your video subsystem to select video power management values.
I would have thought it's purely a BIOS function except for that last sentence.
