Well, with a little more digging and a lot more playing around I was able to get it working in 640x400 without a hitch. I prefer 1024x768 but I still cannot get that to sync correctly.
I have been using xf86config and editing /etc/XF86Config to get it just right. Previously, with the same version of SuSE and the same monitor but different video card I could pick the "8514 compatible" selection when you are prompted for your hsync but that does not work any more. Anyone have any suggestions on what to look for or something that I could try?
Hey, look, everybody! Jon's gonna' post a followup about a SiS chipset! :) Have you checked the SDB (http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/index.html)? There are a few posts about your chipset (which, I might add, was my chipset many moons ago). Just doing a search for `SiS 6326' yielded four sdb articles, two of which are useful, two of which basically say `keep your pants on, we're working on it'. Give that a shot... I will also say that XFree86 3 did a rather poor job of supporting these chipsets; some worked flawlessly, others were heavily flawed. Mine was heavily flawed. If you're not afraid of GNU make, you might want to look at the XFree86 4.0 project, and see what's going on there :). -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
