I get the following in my /var/log/messages:
"localhost /usr/sbin/gpm[<pid>]: No data"
I believe it occurs at some point after I run 'startx'. My mouse seems to work in both X and the console, so what does it all mean?
I found out after this post that the message is independent of the X system. Turning to 'man gpm' yet again, I found the '-V' option for setting the level of err/warn/info messages, and discovered that gpm defaults to leaving some pretty routine messages. If I start gpm with the '-V-1' arg the mouse still works fine, but no more annoying "No data" messages appear in the log.
