Alan, I found *my* problem: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/cg_xdmcp.html For starters I just took out the '!'s. I then restored my /etc/pam.d/xdm to its original configuration and all is well. I even get helpful indication in the /var/log/messages file. HTH, Steve Alan Riggins wrote:
Steve,
Yes, I did install PAM. That one hadn't occurred to me. You're probably right, we need to change a configuration setting somewhere. If I find it, I'll let you know.

Alan,
Did you, per chance, install PAM? I did. I also installed some other security related stuff so I could start playing with it. Perhaps I need to configure one of these. I am working on several security related projects so it may be a few days till I get to this one.

Steve,
I'm having the same problem. I posted this question a while back and no one responded. If you do find a solution, I'd very much appreciate it if you could let me know.
Thanks, Alan Riggins

I have been reconfiguring one of my SuSE boxes and found I can no longer get to it from X-Win32. That is my X-term emulation on NT. The error reported is: "XDMCP:Manager Unwilling: Host Unwilling" Is anybody familiar with this?
