A friend of mine has a slight problem with his suse 6.2 system and has asked me to take a look next weekend. He has added a eide cdwriter to his system and in the process has changed the master/slave settings on one of his drives (i dont know yet in what way its changed but at worst i can look at the cableing) Now the disk that was changed has his suse 6.2 system on it ... and now of course it wont boot. Now i assume that if i boot off floppy (or cd) i should be able to mount the partition(s) manually so i can edit the configuration files. i can see that /etc/lilo.conf (and lilo rerun) and /etc/fstab will need to be altered to reflect the new drive designation (hda, hdb etc) but what other changes will be need to be made to get this system up and running again ... (i dont particularly want to reinstall the whole thing for him!) thanks in advance tim ============================================================= Tim Hempstead, tim@sevigny.demon.co.uk "Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea-cosy, dosn't try it on" - Billy Connelly http://www.sevigny.demon.co.uk/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
