I always compile the 3C509 into the kernel. Try using the module without parameters & let it autoprobe (this is the only way to get it working using an installation kernel)......... Just re-read this. Are you trying tp pass "parm_io=0x300" for instance? THis should be "io=0x300" without the "parm..." On Fri, 3 Mar 2000, Dennis Soper wrote:
Hi all,
I went to set up a Samba print server today using 6.2. The box is an AST p90 with 24MB RAM. I put a 3com509 in the box and when I rebooted, I got the following message:
/lib/modules/../3c509.o invalid parameter parm_io
and the module failed to load.
I looked in /etc/conf.modules and found: alias eth0 .... options 3c509 io=0x300 irq=10
as I configured it. I rebuilt the kernel and it didn't fix it. Neither did changing the card. Plug-n-pray is turned off and the card is configured at io=300 and irq=10.
Anyone have an idea of what's wrong here? The card is a 3com509b TPO.
