Hi, We are using SuSe Linux 6.2 (kernel version 2.2.10). The system slows down (temporarily seems to hang and cursor hangs) whenever any system command like cp, tar, zcat or ftp is used. This also happens when we are linking any libraries. There seems to be a delay between the completion of the command (cp, tar) and the hanging of the cursor or the shell. The system memory is 256 MB and the processor speed is 450 Mhz, Intel P III. The kernel seems to have been optimized for single user mode. The same thing happens when more than one person is using the same machine.
