Hi everone.
Sorry to be such a pain but have just installed SANE from the 6.3 CD set and when trying to run xscanimage we get the error:
error in loading shared libraries: libgimp.1.1.so.11 ...
Which package are these libraries in?
Well, on SuSE 6.1, the libgimp.1.1.so.4 file (or whatever it was) was in the GIMP package, so I presume .so.11 will be in the package for the GIMP on 6.3 (unless this is a newer version of the lib).
Have you tried to 'locate' it on your hard disk? From what I remember you already have the GIMP installed, so it's either a newer library, or it's having other problems locating or opening it. You can see if it's included in the 6.3 version of GIMP by going into YaST and finding the GIMP package, then pressinig F2 for package description and see if it's listed.
Yes that is it. I updated to gimp 1.1.14 with the new libgimp so now xscanimage in SANE won't run. Infact I have libgimp-1.1.so.14 installed at the moment. Is there anyway I can have 1.1.so.11 AND 1.1.so.14 at the same time?
I don't *think* there'll be any problem. Just take the original rpm and pull out the appropriate lib. I believe Midnight Commander can be used to do this, as can rpm2cpio (but that's quite longwinded).
The upgrade must have knocked out libgimp-1.1.so.11 and replaced it with libgimp.1.1.so.14 (logical I suppose).
