Instead of placing only the valid users; root, me, etc; it put "users" such as adabas, firewall, apsfilter, and others. Also it did not set up all of the various wm's under Session. It's not that big of a deal. I boot in runlevel 3 and type: startx <wm>; i.e. startx gnome and it works fine. Also I like being able to drop out of X into the console but I would like to know what's up with KDM if I ever decide to use it again.
I can't say anything about the wm's that weren't set up, but I had the same experience about seeing extra users such as adabas when KDM started. I remember exploring the various KDE configuration options and discovering there was an option for getting rid of them. I think it was in the same area as where you'd set the background color for KDM. Something to do with options for root, I believe. I don't remember any of this very clearly and I'm no longer using KDM, but if you're willing to do some exploration you'll probably be able to get KDM to work the way you want it to.
