A while back, I sent a message to this list because I had added a new pc (a linux box) to my existing network ( SuSE server + two win boxes) and found it harder to configure linux to linux printing (the printer is a HP connected to the linux box) than win to linux (through samba) I still have not been able to solve the problem, but have discovered that it had nothing to do with the network, but with the new linux box, which is a p166 with 1.2g hd, running SuSE 6.3,. I've just realized , after trying to connect a printer directly to the machine, that modules lp and parport do not load automatically. When I load them manually, and try to print a text file, the printer produces a single line that says "Inspecting /boot/System.map-2.2.13 Loaded 8436 symbols from /boot/System.map-2.2.13". If I try lpq, I get "command not found". Could someone please come up with some constructive advice? I have tried about everything, and am really at a loss. thanks fx -- ______________________ Courtesy of SuSE Linux Kernel 2.2.14 (but who cares?) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
