I've never used scsi drives, but wouldn't the next logical choice be /dev/sdb ? But, I would guess that you would have to use fdisk to set a partition and size it on the drive first, then use mkfs to format it? Then you could mount or umount when ever you wanted. If you umount the drive, then swap it with another, you would probably have to partition and format the second. fstab doesn't know anything about the physical drive and doesn't have to. If you use the same mount point and name it shouldn't make any difference about their physical makeup.
