Hello everyone, This is my first e-mail to this list, so please excuse me for not following your Nettiquete rules for this time. Here goes my question, i just installed SuSE 6.3 and configured almost everything without problems, but i got stuck with my sound card, it is an ISA AWE32. I made the isapnp.conf file using pnpdump, when the system boots it recognizes the sound card but it doesnt load the necessary module (sb.o). I modified the file /etc/modules.conf as i was told in the SuSE support center. I commented the folling lines: # alias char-major-14 off # alias sound off # alias midi off And then adjusted the following ones according to my sound card configuration: alias char-major-14 sb options sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x330 post-install sb /sbin/modprobe "-k" "adlib_card" options adlib_card io=0x388 I really dont know what are the last 2 lines for, I even tried to comment them but i got the same results. I also tried to load the module manually, but then i get this: jedi:/ # modprobe sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=5 mpu_io=0x330 /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/sb.o: init_module: Device or resource busy /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/sb.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/sb.o failed /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/sb.o: insmod sb failed What is happening? What should i do? Thanks a lot Juan Jose P.S. I have Slackware 7.0 and Mandrake 6.1 in the same PC and they gave me no trouble with the sound card. I also tried OSS and it worked, but i dont wanna use it, i want the kernel to handle it. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
