I've been trying to write a script using perl and Expect.pm. The purpose of the script is to smbmount several NT shares with one command. I can accomplish this if I simply print `smbmount $share $mountpoint -U $UID`; and enter the password from the command line. I attempted to automate the password submission using Expect. Unfortunately, it seems the smbmount processes must remain running after the perl script terminiates. As it stands, every time the while loop is executed it terminates the previously spawned smbmount when I reuse the process handle. Also, when the perl script exits it takes its children with it leaving an smbmout line in the mtab, but no smbmount process. Any ideas how I can spawn persistent processes? I know I should know how to do this! I don't know how, and I am not a newbie! Ok, I admit it!
