The Hard-Disk-Upgrade Mini How-To explains a few ways to copy a complete
partition, even your root partition. The instructions can be interpreted
to backup your disks. It also mentions what should be excluded, etc.
I've tested it in a root partition and had the copied disk bootting and
running again.
