Bob,
When you compiled 2.2.14, did you enable version information on all symbols for modules? From the information you gave, sounds like not having compiled that in might be the problem.
Double check. If you make menuconfig it's the third option down and saying Y to all three options ("Enable loadable module support", "Set version information on all symbols for modules", "Kernel module loader") should make it work. A reinstall of OSS might be necessary, but after that you shouldn't have any more problems.
Let me know how it turns out, ok? :) --------------------------------------------------------- REM moonr@mindspring.com ICQ uin 39952184 ---------------------------------------------------------

I just upgraded my 6.3smp workstation to 2.2.14 and have been trying to get OSS to re-compile.
I have followed the instructions in the OSS readme file and have gotten the newer version of OSS. Neither version will work and the new version can't seem to find the license file.
Has anyone solved this mystery?
I want my mp3's !
Yes I did enable all 3 of the options mentioned. I have done about 10 installs so far with "make clean" and "rm -f ...modules/*" etc. etc. and still no luck.. As I understand it there is no support for this version unless you buy the full package which I don't need for my isa sb64. Kinda makes me want to go back to FreeBSD or my old PDP-8.......... -- Bob F EMail FBob@wt.net -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
