[SLE] Postgres's Postmaster

Hi,
I'm using SuSe 6.2.

I've configured Postgres SQL to startup at boot time. It does startup and a
"done" is shown in boot message.
The strange thing i've come across is that if i log in as root user straight
after boot only then the postmaster is started. So if i log in staright as
user instead of root after boot , then the postmaster doesn't run and I've
to stop the postgress service "$rcpostgres stop"... remove the socket
.s.PGSQL.unix.5432(i think its the name) and then restart the postgres
service.
I've checked on Suse website in support db and found nothing related to this
there....

is this a bug? if not then what can be done to correct this problem?

Thanks
Mustafa
