BTW, IŽll check the IP ports.

however, as a basic check, can you check that your using the same IP
Glen, latest notes. 12 feb 2000 My ppp is working ok after a ''tweek'' in the NT Server (mine both have SP6 by the way). Like: Installing / setting point to point tunnelling protocol up for the card (it's not on by default). On the Linux end, I also had to tell it the NT Server was there by pinging it the first time after a reboot, have no idea why, it worked ok after that. Unfortunately, that's about all I can do for you, I don't know enough about SuSE Linux yet (haven't had time to read the how-to doc's and associated scripts) to comment further. regrds scsijon anyone any further ideas that may help?? ---------------------------------------- 9 Feb 2000 (NOT SENT) 1/ Not necessarily, the port/socket may be different or you may have not set the protocol to deal with what the NT server returns. Microsoft does funny things with the various protocols that match their interpritation of the "ccitt standard" so I need to look at format as well as message. 2/ My new SuSE is up and can talk through IP between it and my NT / Novell Servers but haven't set up ppp yet as work has interviened, will try this sat. I do have sniffers in both ends so it shouldn't take too long to get it up. regards scsijon ps there are some other ppp messages on the board from Geoffrey Makstutis and others that seem to put some pressure on wvdial as a problem. it may be worth reading them. ---------- ports
for each service at each end. If you accepted the defaults, they should be ok, but you never know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IŽm new using SuSE 6.2, trying connect to the NT4.0 with service-pack
regards scsijon ---------- 4.
When using "wvdial" (1.4), PAP/CHAP enabled, the following appears from my " /var/log/message "
pppd [513] : pppd 2.3.8 started by root, udi 0 pppd [513] : Using interface ppp0 pppd [513] : Connect : ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0 pppd [513] : Sent [LCP ConfRec id=0x1
<pcomp> <accomp> ] last message repeated 9 times pppd[513] : LCP : timeout sending Config-Requests pppd[513] : Connection terminated. pppd[513] : Exit.
Also on the NT-server IŽve only set "Accept any authenication
including clear text", and only
TCP/IP-sevices are enabled in RAS.
Thanks in advance for any and all pointers you can give me. And BTW, if I'm asking the wrong list, I apologize in advance.
