Try ftp-ing to your proxy server. Here in our office we have it setup like that. I ftp to our ftp proxy server with the credentials for the remote site.
Thank you. I just had to find out who to talk to to find out the correct proxy server. There are several proxies here but most of them are http only. And once I tried it out it used the same method as below:
A typical session looks like this:
sh-2.03$ ftp ftp-gw Connected to ftp-gw.nl.compuware.com. 220 This is the TIS ftp proxy server Name (ftp-gw:koos): anonymous@ftp.suse.com 331-(----GATEWAY CONNECTED TO ftp.suse.com----)
