so all you did is dhcpcd -h c123456-a and that got you online? did you run SuSEconfig after installing the chcpcd rpm? this is good news, I knew I was close I was just out of ideas thanks Ron John Denning wrote:
Ron & Lars -- I finally got @home working. Lars it was what you pointed me to. I did indeed (hang my head in shame) have an IRQ conflict. I know I had checked interrupts before and didn't see it. But then after what you said I went back and sure enough my not used SCSI card was taking IRQ 5. Even after I disabled the card in the card's BIOS it still kept that IRQ. Though Windows would ignore it.
I removed the card, started Linux, tried ifconfig eth0, then dhcpcd -h c123456-a and then when I tried ifconfig eth0 it worked. Have my IP and was able to surf.
