I have hit the same problem with pcmcia under 6.3. The simple way out is to
disable or reassign the COM2 port in the bios so there can be no conflict.
I have not yet found out how to stop pcmcia grabbing an existing port.

Subject: [SLE] Problem with realport modem on 6.3

Hi

I have just switched from RedHat 6.1 to SuSe 6.3 (I have been a Redhat user
since 4.0) and in general I like SuSE a lot.
However i am having a problem with my Xircom Realport 100Mb ethernet / 56K
modem card. Under RedHat it worked fine but with SuSE I cant talk to the
modem at all.

The boot messages claim its being initailised as ttyS1 but if I set
/dev/modem to this using YAST WVdial ot minicom wont talk to it at all.

The only weird thing I can see is that the system seem to have installed
some IDRa drivers as ttyS1 as well, is this the problem and if so how do I
disablke them ?

Regards

Pat

PS sorry this mail is coming from Outlook but untill I our MIS manager gets
IMAP sorted I am stuck with it.
