I had this sound card working very well a while back. Get all your settings from windows *gag* and read the kernel documentation on that sound card. After I recompiled with all the proper settings it worked great don't even think I had to use the soundon command. Good Luck psims@lombard.co.uk writes:
I've been trying to get a CMI8330 chip (on a PC Chips m/b) working with SuSE 6.3 under both the OSS kernel drivers & Alsa with no success. Win95 is using the chip as WSS, but there is a second device set up as SB16-compat. I've tried isapnp setting it as both SB16 & WSS, plus without isapnp initialisation, all without success. Alsaconf recognizes SB16 settings but when selected the driver does not get loaded.
Anybody got any pointers ?
TIA,
Paul.
