Are these boxes that have "X installed and configured" running xdm?
Are you using XFree86?
If yes && yes, you can do something like this:
(on one tty)
Xwrapper -query xdm1.host.com :0
(and on another tty)
Xwrapper -query xdm2.host.com :1
You can then switch between sessions by switching VTs.

Subject: [SLE] remote/multiple X
| Hello,
| I have several Linux boxes on a small network and would like
| to be able to run remote X-sessions on at least two boxes at
| once. I am familiar with running multiple sessions on the same
| machine but I have been unable to find the docs for the remote end.
| Each computer has X installed and configured and I would like to be able
| to switch between sessions using the same monitor, keyboard, and mouse w/o
| getting into the hardware switching thing. Any pointers to relavent
| documentation and/or experience would be greatly appreciated.
|
| Thank You,
| Mike
