I can't remember if you can tell kppp to look on a specific port rather
than /dev/modem. If kppp is not looking at /dev/modem make sure /dev/modem
points to the correct port - ttyS0 for Com1, ttyS1 for Com2.
If you start Minicom can you connect to the modem & get a response when you
type "at" & return?
Look in /var/log/messages for the trail of woe leading up to pppd dying.
Still struggling with the command line dialup. Kppp works fine however.
wvdialconf tell me 'no modem detected'
wvdial dials up and connects then immediately dies with 'PPP deamon has
died'
and procedes to redial.
Any ideas anyone? (6.3 with Diamond external 56.6 modem)
Best wishes from Steve.
