I installed virtual Windoze NT on the top of Linux with a good hope that I will be able to use M$ Money application for my account tracking purposes. I have an external Zoom 56K dual mode modem which I happily used under Linux till I got ADSL. However, after installation of virtual NT everything, except modem seems to be working OK (sound, CR ROM, printer, Internet). (By the way, I couldn't run games like Quake, Half-Life, MDK on virtial Windoze NT, they just don't start.) My modem is connected to COM2 - ttyS1. Virtual NT sees modem properly but when I try to dial to my bank account from M$ Money I'm getting this error "ERROR 602. Enable to establish connection. No response from the modem."
Firstly your games: they aren't going to work. Vmware doesn't support the low level graphics stuff they need. This is documented on Vmware's web site. Your modem: modems work under Vmware quite happily; you don't need to do anything clever. First check it still works under Linux. You suggest you don't use it under Linux anymore, so check that it's still installed correctly. If it doesn't work under Linux it isn't going to work under Vmware. Then ensure you have set the tty device up correctly for Vmware to use. Do this in Settings->Configuration Editor->Serial Ports, then check under Settings->Removeable Devices when Vmware is running. If it's any comfort, my modem works a treat for net/fax under Vmware/NT. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
