Hi, I'm not sure how NT handles it by default, but it may be blocking the ports. Check in control panel >> network icon >> protocols tab. Select tcp/ip >>properties >> IP address and (finally) look for the check box that says enable security and check the configuration there. I think the ports required by samba are 137 thru 139 (perhaps someone else can verify that). You probably want to have encrypted passwords on the NT shares for security reasons, maybe setup a vpn? Thanks for all the responses......but it doesn't work. Remember, my NT Wk St is at home and is not part of the Network at work. The home PC is connected to ISP only and ISP provides me a totally different IP address than the range of IPs at work.
Do yous still think I should be able to map the drive ? I don't think NT is this intellegent/capable......
