Hi all, I'm getting ready to upgrade a 6.2 box to 6.3 and have a few questions. This is more of a "what do I have to do to prepare the box, besides backup" type message. As you might guess, I've never upgraded before. First, how does the upgrade treat software that I don't want "upgraded" ; e.g., the 2.2.14 kernel and source tree, as well as programs that I've built from tarballs that are newer than what come with 6.3. Second, with programs that aren't necessary to get the distro up and running-- X, compilers, & so forth, would I be better off to back up the config files and uninstall them, or will the upgrade (generally) deal with them correctly? Finally, are there any programs that I should *definitely* uninstall before the upgrade?
