Hello everyone! I wrote up my resume last night in Star Office 5.1 and saved to a DOS formatted disk. Came into work today and tried to open the file in MS Word 97 and it's not exactly the same. Lots of font names and specifications are showing up on the page (was a one page document, now is nine pages). Anyone know how to solve this one? The file was originally created in MS Word 97, and I edited it in SO (I don't have MS at home anymore) and now I have the mentioned problem when trying to open it in MS Word at work. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
You should have saved your file as an MS Word format file. Instead of just pressing save you need to save as and then choose the MS Word format. This usually helps, although some of the more intricate formatting people may do, involving different fonts, symbols, etc. do not come out as expected. After I had this problem repeatedly and since it was interferring with my work I decided to give in and installed Office 2000 on Win98 in vmware. Works okay for me, especially with the academic discounts on both vmware and the MS software.
