Hi Guys I've just had a stab at compiling 2.2.14 and got the following errors at boot up:- Jan 17 15:24:53 mark modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-15 Jan 17 15:24:53 mark modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-15 Jan 17 15:25:55 mark pppd[258]: Cannot determine ethernet address for proxy ARP Jan 17 15:31:17 mark pppd[293]: Cannot determine ethernet address for proxy ARP Jan 17 15:31:48 mark pppd[293]: CCP: timeout sending Config-Requests Jan 17 15:48:56 mark kernel: ide-scsi: hdb: unsupported command in request queue (0) Jan 17 15:48:56 mark kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 03:40 (hdb), sector 0 Jan 17 15:48:56 mark kernel: ide-scsi: hdb: unsupported command in request queue (0) Jan 17 15:48:56 mark kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 03:40 (hdb), sector 0 Jan 17 15:48:56 mark kernel: ide-scsi: hdb: unsupported command in request queue (0) Jan 17 15:48:56 mark kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 03:40 (hdb), sector 0 Jan 17 15:50:14 mark kernel: Symbol table has incorrect version number. What does the error regarding hdb mean. It is a standard CD-Rom. I left off ATAPI support and enabled SCSI support for CD-Roms ? Thanks and I look forward to any advise.
