Hi, everybody! I'm *still* having a really hard time with this printer. I have apsfilter, gs_both (along with all includes), and lprng installed, and I've set my NetExpress Pro card to be an SMB device. I can `lpr' any plain text file, print from pine, pico, and other console applications. I cannot, however, print from any application that requires GS to filter the output. If I try, I get a bunch of empty pages and some jibberish in between. I used YaST to configure a Samba Printer (lj5mono, //hpserver/lj_5). This is the printcap that YaST made for me: ### BEGIN apsfilter: ### lj5mono letter mono 600 ### # Warning: Configured for apsfilter, do not edit the labels! # apsfilter setup Thu Jan 13 09:40:15 CST 2000 # ascii|lp1|lj5mono-letter-ascii-mono-600|lj5mono letter ascii mono 600:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-ascii-mono-600:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-ascii-mono-600/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-ascii-mono-600/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/lj5mono-letter-ascii-mono-600:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh:sf: # lp|lp2|lj5mono-letter-auto-mono-600|lj5mono letter auto mono 600:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-auto-mono-600:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-auto-mono-600/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-auto-mono-600/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/lj5mono-letter-auto-mono-600:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh:sf: # raw|lp3|lj5mono-letter-raw|lj5mono letter raw:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-raw:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-raw/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/lj5mono-letter-raw/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/lj5mono-letter-raw:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh:sf: # ### END apsfilter: ### lj5mono letter mono 600 ### At this point, my only problem is getting GS to feed printable data. Any ideas? :] /etc/apsfilterrc looks okay, so is apsfilter.lj5mono. Is there another config file I'm missing? -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
