I have installed SuSE 6.3 on a SCSI only system. The precompiled kernel
supplied with the CDs will boot off of the scsi disk. The driver I use
is the aic7xxx.
When you installed the system, did you load the scsi driver to be able
to see your HD? If so, that is the driver you should use when you boot
the system.
I would suggest you to add this entry in your /etc/modules.conf:
alias scsi_hostadapter <your_scsi_driver>
and give it a try.
I'm a little puzzled, though. When I installed the system I loaded the
aic7xxx and sym53c8xx modules. Now when I boot the system both modules
are loaded. The curious thing is that the /etc/modules.conf reads:
alias scsi_hostadapter off
and there is no mention of the above drivers.
Does anybody know how this is done?
