[SLE] Integrating dhcp???

I am a bit puzzled about just how to go about setting up my laptop to use
dhcp efficiently.
DNS:
I use the machine in various distinct LAN's, and would like to be be able
to refer to the machine by host name without knowing the IP address, on
any of the different LAN's. Would this require implementing 'reverse
DNS'? Currently, I'm not using DNS on any of the LAN's - simply a hosts
file to reference the servers which all have fixed IP's. BTW, all IP's
are non-routable class C - usually 192.168.1.x, and each LAN is a single
subnet.
wvdial/ppp:
Also, in reference to using a ppp connection, is it necessary (or
preferred) to place a reference to the ISP's nameserver (for example in
the 'option domain-name-servers' line) in dhcp.conf? Or does ppp take
care of this by adding the default gateway entry to the routing table?
Thanx
