At the risk of being off topic,
I can tell you first hand that Freebsd is nearly as easy to install as
SuSE was. (IMHO. Of course this was on my hardware. YMMV)
For ease of use, SuSE may take top honors. IIRC, FBSD does not have a
utility as mature as Yast. I believe you have to edit a script (like
rc.config) and then "run" it, which will config networking, etc.
One big plus for FBSD are "ports." Briefly, they are short scripts that
allow you to ftp, compile and install apps in a few keystrokes. There are
hundreds available.
FBSD drivers are less common than SuSE provides.
In closing, from my brief foray into FBSD, I can say that it requires more
script and .rc editing, and definitely more man page reading. FBSD feels
more UNIX than Linux. (<---don't flame me, please :-) ) It was a good
experience. BTW, extremely good list support, and the included book, "The
Complete FreeBSD" at 1710 pages is another big plus.
If you are interested, go for it. See www.cheapbytes.com and
www.freebsd.org or even www.openbsd.org
