I read about that baloon last fall. M$ was calling it 'rent' then, but
the idea was the same. To use their wp you would have to have the
Internet running each time you opened up your document. M$ would verify
your "renting" priviledges and give you access to their APIs via the
net. Your bank account would be billed automatically. The whole
purpose, besides being 'for the children', was to offer better support,
keep you running on the bleeding edge, yada, yada, yada..., and analyze
your HD for patterns, trends and bootleg software.
"Brave New World" stuff. Really scary.
If it comes to that (because Linux loses politically and/or is locked
out of the web) I will trash my PC.
