Using YaST I did the following

1) Uninstalled Sendmail
2) Installed Postfix

The result:

Postfix is installed albeit with some configuration errors
in main.cf
mydestination =
(should have values next to it)
#relay-domains lists $virtual_domains (it should be $virtual_maps as
defined earlier in main.cf)

Sendmail is NOT removed. Sendmail is still receiving mail.
This is extremely deceptive. Postfix was designed to place it's
own "sendmail" programs in order to maintain compatibility with
programs that expect it but modularizing and simplifying much
of sendmail's capabilities into other programs.

By leaving the "real" sendmail functioning, postfix configurations
are ignored and it is very difficult to notice the problem.

Tomorrow I will go to where my server is colocated, uninstall postfix,
and install postfix by hand, making sure to properly replace sendmail.

Please consider including a fully realized postfix configuration
in your next YaST release.
