Obviously fdisk is having a problem, but it's not because of 1024
cylinders. I have this 8G disk:
Disk /dev/hda: 16 heads, 63 sectors, 16708 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 1000 503968+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda2 1001 1400 201600 83 Linux
/dev/hda3 1401 16600 7660800 5 Extended
/dev/hda4 16601 16708 54432 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda5 1401 14600 6652768+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda6 14601 16600 1007968+ 83 Linux
Your problem must be caused by something else. Often the 1024 cylinders
are a problem for booting. There are easy ways around it.
