To small a box. Not enough resources to run X let alone Star Office in X.
This box would be a nice printer server, firewall, router...... That other OS
would choke on this as well. If you insist on using X then try using
Windowmaker.... Smaller memory print and the menus scroll when off the screen.
Wont help with StarOffice though..... just not enough resources....

You could improve you hardisk access by turning on dma to you controller. It
is a new enough machine so you should have at least DMA if not UDMA. The
command is 'hdparm -d1 /dev/hda'. Replace /dev/hda with what ever your
harddisk device is. You can put that line in your /etc/rc.d/boot or boot.local
file to have it happen every time you boot up. If that is not enough maybe try
a different windowmanager or disable some of the backround service running. I
run a P200MMX with 64M at work and it is fine for me.....
Well happy hunting and good luck! And Welcome!
