[SLE] where does disk space go?

Hi everyone,
I freed up around 150M from the root partition a few days ago by deleting as
many packages as I could.
Now, about 4 days later, I'm left with around 3.5M free. Where has all the
space gone?
Does anyone know of any programs for linux similar to TreeSize Pro for m$,
which gives a hierarchical directory view showing how much disk space is used
by all the files in it's a directory and all its subdirectories? Doesn't have
to be graphical, could be command line, as long as it gives the size of
everything below it, eg:
/ 1.49G
bin/ 100M
home/ 350M
chris/ 200M
stephen/ 100M
lib/ 150M
opt/ 300M
root/ 80M
temp/ 55M
usr/ 370M
doc/ 150M
src/ 220M
var/ 85M
more acurately, though, of course.
Is there a program like that around? How else would I find out where my disk
space is going then?
Thanks,
Chris
