You know I had been wondering about my crashes too so I downloaded KDE
1.1.2 and stored it on my storage HD with all the suse 6.2 updates from
the ftp site, then I reinstalled fresh. This time i just installed the
'minimal' package with make, patch and gcc added. Then I installed all
the SuSE update packages that matched those packaged I had installed. I
let the installation process finish initializing the system, then I
compiled kernel 2.2.12. This time I disabled 'PCI Quirks' though.
Rebooted the new kernel and then installed the rest of my normal
packages and there appropriate updates. I have only had about 3 KDE
freezes since then and they weren't hard locks. <ctrl><alt><bs> killed
the session and brought me back to KDM. Still haven't singled out what
is causing the lockup though... but my system is definately more stable
now.
