I have had the same problem of not being able to mount cds or floppies from
user accounts. I just checked, and suid was not set for mount, but when I set
it I was able to mount from users. This solves the problem, but is this really
the only solution. I understand there is a security concern with setuid
programs, and it seems like it should be possible to have user mount
capabilities without using setuid. It isn't a major problem for my system
which is only connected occasionally by modem but in general it may be a
problem. In any event, it would be useful if SuSE made this easier to do or at
least explained in the manual how to do it. Maybe an item for the 7.0 wish
list. Thanks for the hint, Alex
