I may be wrong, but I believe the version of OSS that comes with SuSE is a free
personnal version. You don't need to pay unless you need some extra features,
or need a different version to cover your sound card.
I do agree though that the AWE 64 is a great choice. I use it also on my
system along with the OSS driver provided with SuSE 6.1.
