hi all

my quest to make an old 486 become a firewall and webserver has
continued...

After having installed linux on 2 236 meg scsi hds in a working machine
and then reinserting them into the old 486 using the aha1542 controller
card, i tried the setup...
(for those of who have no idea, what i'm talking about: see my previos
post)

I started of the computer and saw it initialising just fine, until it
usually reaches the lilo prompt. there it stopped saying just "LI"
i know this has been covered before, could somebody please forward me an
old message explaining it all.

i'm going to put the drives into myfunctioning system and try and install
a good MBR on it.

if anybody has any hints tips or tricks, please get them to me...

i also need info about:
what exactly does lilo do during bootup, what does it need?
any info about scsi adapters aha152x and 1542, bios hotkeys...anything..
guidance from the pros

ps. i have this unused compaq modem, thought it is a winmodem, but then
saw it was isa...
(see next post)
