I have noticed the same thing and although I don't understand the
message, I think I understand the situation.

In my opinion, to install from the SuSE CDs your best bet is to get
at things through Yast's "Change/Create configuration" menu item.

If you want to use "Install packages", mount /cdrom before starting
Yast then use "Directory" instead of "Source medium." You will then
be able to navigate through the directories on the CD and install
whatever you find there.

But I don't recommend that approach. Here is something else you might
want to try...

Start Yast "normally" (without first mounting /cdrom). Be sure you
have the source medium set to the cdrom (via "Adjustments to
installation") then select "Choose/Install packages" -> "Change/Create
configuration". Now press F4 and select sorting by "All packages".
You will then be able to look through an alphabetized list of all the
packages from the entire set of CD's (excluding source packages).

I also found I use "Package information" a lot. This lets you search
for things then install (or update or delete) once found.
