on first appearance I was happy with the new SuSE 6.2 but now where I try to
make my system fit it has problems. I had a fit 5.2 system before.
1. I start StarOffice and it asks for a KEY. I enter the MediaKey from the
handbook. I restart StarOffice and it tells me I have to register or else it
ends its trial period on 10/11/99. Excuse me? Sun Microsystems. StarOffice.
2. I downloaded me a new kernel and installed it. Now when it boots it gives
errors on vmnet vm... vm.... vm dhcplient
I suppose this is vmware related. I was in /etc/rc.config. There no vmware
setting in there. One error is it lacks a module in /lib/modules/`uname
-r/misc. I probably have not compiled it in but I have no clue which it
How do I turn this vm stuff off at boot up???
3. Oh boy a real bad one.
I took the included kernel and recompiled it at first. I wanted my sound.
Yamaha 719 board. It worked under 5.2 fine. Now I compiled the kernel and
installed it. I boot up and the sound initialized. The machines seems to
boot just fine. One BIG problem though. As soon as I try to

_XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running
Fatal server error:

the full server output, not just the last messages
X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
There is NO X server running. Seriously.
So what did I do? I got me the newer kernel 2.2.12. Installed that one and
there is the same problem. I cannot run X unless I use the kernel which came
with SuSE 6.2 and it has to be the one precompiled on the CD.
Anybody help me. I am dying.
