Hi all,
First of all: this list makes great reading, other people may moan about
100+ messages per day, but since 70 percent is very interesting, i'm glad
to have subscribed...
ok, now to my prob
For quite awhile i had thought, that linux could not display multiple
sound sources (e.g. x11amp + system sounds + icq sounds) at the same time.
Then i saw, that a friend had esd (enlightement sound demon) in action,
and it was performing just as wanted... So, i installed esd, and it starts
up fine, but all the apps i have dont seem to get on well with it. x11amp
complains about "/dev/audio and /dev/dsp in use" or something like that.
Ok , that's logical, but what do i do about it? Do i have to recompile the
various programs to include esd support? Is it possible to somehow compile
esd support into every program , or will only specificaly written programs
work with it?
And by the way, what do i need the yamaha opl stuff in the kernel for?
tia, Alex _smkd_
