[SLE] New kernel

Hello,
Nothing major, just something annoying.
I compiled the 2.2.10 kernel, but on reboot the
message at login says that the 2.2.5 kernel was
being used. The new kernel is being used as the
new modules I wanted compiled in are working.
How can I display the correct kernel version number?
I also could not find a command to display what
version is being used.
Can anyone help?
I'm using 6.1
